Göteborg Landvetter Airport named the best logistics location in the Nordic region
The Gothenburg region, home to Swedavia’s Göteborg Landvetter Airport, has been named the best logistics location in the Nordic region by Dagens Logistik magazine. The magazine based its award on measurements of logistics hubs, where the Gothenburg region was named Sweden’s leading logistics hub in 2023 and 2024. With strong flight connections, the largest port in the Nordic region and its status as Sweden’s hub for international imports and exports, the Gothenburg region remains the country’s most important and leading logistics location.

“Sweden's second largest airport, Göteborg Landvetter, is West Sweden's gateway to the world and it is, of course, very gratifying that the Gothenburg region has been named the Nordic region's leading logistics location. With proximity to the Oslo-Copenhagen-Stockholm triangle, Gothenburg and Landvetter continue to be the go-to logistics hub for both Scandinavian and European shipping. The airport offers efficient shipping and logistics solutions, several direct routes out into the world, as well as the new, emerging Logistics Park, which further strengthens the position of the Gothenburg region,” says Anna Strömwall, Airport Director Göteborg Landvetter Airport at Swedavia.
Motivation for the award from Dagens Logistik
The industry-dense Gothenburg region, with the largest container port in the Nordic region and a well-developed rail network, is an important logistics hub for the entire Nordic region, and plays a crucial role in both imports and exports. In terms of infrastructure, the port is complemented by land-based infrastructure that includes strong road, rail and air connections (Landvetter Airport), making it a logistics hub for the Nordic region.
Within the framework of Airport City at Göteborg Landvetter Airport, Logistics Park No. 2 is already being planned and will be a centre for the Gothenburg region’s logistics management in the future, with modern logistics structures spanning 350,000 square meters. The increase in the amount of freight handled via Göteborg Landvetter Airport has been very positive, with an increase of 33 per cent in 2024 compared to 2023.
Göteborg Landvetter Airport has 3,500 employees across approximately 100 employers, making the airport one of the largest and most important workplaces in Western Sweden. The airport offers a wide range of destinations with around 50 routes, of which more than 15 are charter destinations. In 2024, more than 5.3 million travelers passed through the airport, an increase of three per cent compared to 2023. International air travel increased by six per cent, while domestic travel decreased by 20 per cent.
