Temporary changes to EU regulations affect liquid restrictions at Stockholm Arlanda security control in Terminal 5, starting 1 September

2024-08-16, kl. 13:00

Starting 1 September, a temporary EU regulation will be introduced that regulates the size of the liquid containers that can be carried in hand baggage at security control checkpoints of the type available in Terminal 5 at Stockholm Arlanda. The maximum size of individual liquid containers will be 100 ml, but there are no restrictions regarding how many individual containers passengers can take with them, and they can continue to be left in the hand baggage through the X-ray machine.

- Liquid containers smaller than 100 ml and electronics, such as computers and mobile phones, can continue to remain in hand baggage at the new security control checkpoint, says Karl Eklund, airport director Stockholm Arlanda Airport at Swedavia.

Facts:
At Swedavia's airports, only Arlanda's security control in Terminal 5 will be affected, where no liquid containers larger than 100 ml may be carried in hand baggage starting 1 September. However, the number of individual liquid containers is not restricted. Liquid containers and electronics, such as computers and mobile phones, can continue to remain in hand baggage at Arlanda's new security control checkpoint in Terminal 5.

At Stockholm Arlanda's other security control checkpoints in the airport's other terminals, as well as at Swedavia's other nine airports, previous regulations on liquid containers continue to apply. There is already a limit of 100 ml for liquid containers. Liquid containers must continue to be removed from hand baggage and placed in a separate one-litre plastic bag at these security control checkpoints.
