Continued passenger growth at Swedavia’s airports
Air travel to and from Swedavia's airports continues to grow. During the second month of the year, passenger volume at Swedavia's ten airports increased 3 per cent compared to last year, with a total of 2,857,200 passengers flying to or from the Group's airports. Six of Swedavia's airports posted higher passenger figures compared to the same period last year. At Stockholm Arlanda Airport, international traffic increased 6 per cent in February.
During February, a total of 2,857,200 passengers flew to or from Swedavia's airports, which is a 3 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.
Some 1,774,300 passengers flew internationally in February, a 6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. However, the February statistic for domestic traffic showed a 1 per cent decrease compared to February 2016. A total of 1,082,900 passengers travelled domestically to or from Swedavia's airports.
Swedavia's two largest airports saw passenger volume increases in February compared to the same month last year. About 1,768,700 passengers flew to or from Stockholm Arlanda Airport in February this year, which is a 5 per cent increase. At Göteborg Landvetter Airport, 443,100 passengers flew to or from the airport, which is a 1 per cent increase compared to February last year.
Other passenger volume increases in February were seen at:
• Kiruna Airport, where travel was up 9 per cent overall (to 30,200 passengers)
• Ronneby Airport, where travel was up 2 per cent overall (to 19,000 passengers)
• Visby Airport where travel was up 3 per cent overall (to 26,000 passengers)
• Åre Östersund Airport, where travel was up 6 per cent overall (to 52,700 passengers)
On a rolling 12-month basis, total passenger volume increased 5 per cent to 39,849,200. During the most recent 12-month period, domestic traffic was up 3 per cent and international traffic was up 6 per cent.
The three most popular international destinations from Stockholm Arlanda Airport were Copenhagen, London and Oslo, while the three most popular destinations from Göteborg Landvetter Airport were London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
